In 2021, ElectriFI supported the company’s Series A round to accelerate its deployment with a €1.5 million investment. In 2025, ElectriFI renewed its commitment through another €1.5 million follow-on equity investment, as part of a €6.3 million Series A2 round, co-financed with Gaia Impact Fund II, Acumen’s Hardest-2-Reach Fund and Triodos Bank. This capital increase will allow the company to consolidate its growth and strengthen its leadership in the decentralised energy sector in the region.

Funding objective

The ElectriFI investment supports the scale-up of MYJOULEBOX’s commercial activities and the deployment of its decentralised solar solutions across West Africa. The funding will be used to:

  • Increase installations of solar systems for households, commercial clients, and mini-grids.

  • Strengthen the company’s operational capacity and workforce.

  • Expand local infrastructure and improve supply chain efficiency.

  • Leverage additional funding from international and local investors.

The Series A2 round strengthens the company’s balance sheet and provides a platform for accelerated, sustainable growth.

Investment rationale

ElectriFI’s investments in MyJouleBox align with its mandate to support early-stage private companies providing clean energy solutions in underserved markets. The company has demonstrated strong technical capabilities, local market knowledge, and an ability to scale responsibly.

The 2025 financing round reflects increased investor confidence in MyJouleBox’s model and track record. The participation of new and existing investors—combined with debt from a mission-aligned financial institution—confirms the company’s strategic relevance in West Africa’s energy transition.

ElectriFI’s catalytic capital helped crowd in other investors, including the Acumen Hardest-2-Reach Fund and Triodos Bank, enabling MyJouleBox to accelerate its impact and long-term sustainability.
