About
The EDFI MSME Platform is the first joint guarantee facility under the EU’s European Fund for Sustainable Development Plus (EFSD+), the financing arm of the EU Global Gateway, which promote sustainable investments in the EU partner countries.
The facility is open to EU pillar assessed EDFI association members and is designed to address financial constraints faced by micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and local financial institutions in countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and the EU Neighbourhood. It also aims to enhance the capacity of European Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) and their co-investors to lend to underserved high-risk countries and segments.
This EDFI MSME Platform will be managed by EDFI Management Company and is expected to enable European DFIs to invest EUR 200 million of financing into local financial intermediaries to support the development of MSMEs in the Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Agriculture sectors.
