EDFI MC Leadership Announcement: Chief Investment Officer Transition

Dear colleagues, partners and friends,

I am writing to inform you of a change in leadership within our investment team.

After nearly seven years of dedicated service, Dominiek Deconinck has decided to pursue his career outside of EDFI MC. On behalf of the Board of Directors and myself, I want to express our sincere gratitude to Dominiek for his invaluable contributions. He leaves behind a legacy of successful investment initiatives and a robust portfolio of over 60 investee companies.

Dominiek played a pivotal role in our company’s growth. He started as the first manager of the ElectriFI Facility in 2017, then transitioned to Chief Investment Officer in 2020, leading the investment process and monitoring the portfolio of investees. During his tenure, the ElectriFI Facility developed from its inception to a substantial €280 million facility. He also significantly contributed to the creation and growth of the €120 million AgriFI Facility. Dominiek also led our syndication facilities “European Financial Partners” (EFP) and the “Interact Climate Change Facility” (ICCF) and contributed to the design and implementation of the Guarantee Programmes, in particular the EDFI MSME Platform, as well as JEFFREI, the Joint EDFI Facility For Renewable Energy Investments. Dominiek has played a crucial role in building within EDFI MC. Under his leadership, a team of 20 investment, financial and ESGI officers was built strong and internal processes, as well as reporting practices, were duly implemented. These competencies played a significant role in EDFI MC obtaining the EU Pillar Assessment certification that allows the company to manage EU budgetary resources under the European Fund for Sustainable Development.

As we look towards the future of EDFI MC’s investment activities, we are thrilled to announce the appointment of Jean-Denis Collin as our new Chief Investment Officer, effective 1 May 2024.

As you already know, Jean-Denis is currently the ElectriFi Facility Manager. He is seasoned investment professional with more than 20 years of experience in energy finance, including a decade focused on emerging markets. He is experienced in structuring and executing debt and equity transactions across Africa and Asia, implementing impact investment principles and raising capital and secure funding for new facilities. Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated a strong track record of leading investment teams to success.

We are confident that Jean-Denis’ expertise and leadership will be instrumental in propelling EDFI MC’s investment activities to even greater heights. Please join me in welcoming him to his new role.

The overlap between the out-going Chief Investment Officer and the in-coming one will ensure a smooth transition and full stability to all our transactions and goals. We look forward to a continued positive impact on the lives of people in developing countries through our investment activities.

Thank you,

Rodrigo Madrazo García de Lomana

Chief Executive Officer
