Aruwa Capital Management to Strengthen ESG and Gender Inclusion with Technical Assistance from EDFI Management Company
Brussels – 12 August 2025 – Aruwa Capital Management, a gender-lens private equity fund manager investing in early-stage businesses in Nigeria and Ghana, is set to enhance its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Gender, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (GDEI) practices through technical assistance (TA) funding from EDFI Management Company (EDFI MC), under the ElectriFI Country Window Nigeria, funded by the European Union.
The TA project will support the implementation of ESG and GDEI action plans for Aruwa Capital Fund II, following EDFI MC’s equity investment of USD 6 million. The initiative is co-financed by Aruwa Capital and EDFI MC.
The technical assistance will be implemented in two phases. The first phase focuses on establishing a robust ESG and GDEI framework, including the development of an Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS), business integrity risk management tools, and gender-inclusive leadership policies. The second phase will provide ongoing ESG support through a nine-month retainership, covering due diligence, reporting, and training.
Natalia Svarinska, TA Specialist at EDFI MC, commented: “This partnership with Aruwa Capital reflects our commitment to supporting fund managers who prioritise gender equity and sustainability. The technical assistance will help institutionalise ESG and GDEI practices, strengthening Aruwa’s long-term impact.”

Aruwa Capital Management is a Lagos-based, female-founded and led, growth equity, impact investment company. Aruwa Capital Management was founded based on the conviction that the gender imbalance amongst capital allocators provides an untapped opportunity for women as capital allocators to invest in overlooked segments of the economy with a natural competitive advantage. With fewer than 40 private equity funds owned or led by a woman across the African continent, Aruwa Capital is unlocking investment opportunities historically missed due to the lack of women in investment decision-making roles.
