About the Event
On 2 October 2024, EDFI MC held its first Corporate Day, At the Crossroads. Leaders from the European development finance institutions, multilateral development banks, impact investors, the European Commission and our portfolio companies met at a time when geopolitical shifts and economic volatility had made channelling capital into sustainable solutions more urgent.
The afternoon opened with our CEO Rodrigo Madrazo, Koen Doens, Director-General of DG International Partnerships, and Luuk Zonneveld, Chair of the Board of EDFI. It was followed by the signing of three EFSD+ guarantees with the European Commission: the EDFI MSME Platform Plus, EDFI Carbon Sinks and FMO’s DFCD Aya Programme. Four panels then discussed impact investment amid geopolitical disruption, capital mobilisation through guarantees and blended finance, entrepreneurship in frontier markets, and whether Global Gateway will set the course for development finance.
